LOTS 3028-3029
FROM A NORWEGIAN PRIVATE COLLECTION
In 1956, Lin Fengmian's wife, Alice Vatiaur, left China together with their daughter and son-in-law to settle in the West. These paintings come from the parents of the current owner, who bought them from Lin's wife in Hong Kong while she was on her way to Brazil. Two contrasting elements are at play in Goose Flying over the Willow Pond; the stillness of the hedges and the movement of the goose, revealed the perfect balance between quietness and liveliness of nature. Basking in the subtle luminosity, Lady Holding a Fan, is an excellent example of the artist at his best.
