A single-sided 7" acetate with white Emidisc label, inscribed in blue ink in an unknown hand KINKS, I BELIEVED YOU, 45RPM, in original Regent Sound Ltd., 4, Denmark Street, London... mailing envelope; accompanied by a management contract between Kinks manager, Grenville Collins and early Kinks drummer, Michael (Mickey) Willett, the four page contract in mimeographed typescript dated 29 October, 1963, signed by Mickey Willett and Grenville Collins and witnessed by the Kinks co-manager, Robert Wace (2)

Please note that this is a double-sided acetate, not single sided as stated in the catalogue. The other side inscribed I'M A HOG FOR YOU BABY. It is believed that this is the first studio recording and that there are only two copies in existence.

Lot Essay

This acetate and management contract dates from a very early period in the Kinks' history, just before they landed their first record contract with Pye in 1964. Mickey Willett was the Kinks' first drummer but left the band in 1964 to be replaced by Mick Avory.
