Le premier de forme carrée, rehaussé d'une inscription incisée à douze caractères Guangxu Xinmao ji chun, Boyu fang Qin yin, la face portant les caractères chinois Wu wang ye ban, zhe yan tian shi; le second de forme carrée, orné d'une inscription incisée à onze caractères Shu Weng jiang jun ming zuo, hou xue He Kunyu, la face portant les caractères chinois Ji Ge; le troisième de forme rectangulaire, agrémenté d'une inscription incisée à cinq caractères He Kunyu fang Han, la face portant les caractères chinois Shu Tang, la prise des trois cachets formée de deux dragons affrontés parmi les nuages ; petites égrenures

Lot Essay

The twelve-character inscription Guangxu Xinmao ji chun, Boyu fang Qin yin may be translated as ' In the spring of the Xinmao year of Guangxu (1891), Boyu imitating the style of Qin seals.
The other seal incised with an eleven-character inscription Shu Weng jiang jun ming zuo, hou xue He Kunyu may be translated as 'Ordered by General Shuweng, imitated by He Kunyu'.
The five-character inscription He Kunyu fang Han may be translated as 'He Kunyu imitating the Han style'.
He Kunyu (1828-1896), also named Boyu, is a zhuanshu calligrapher in the Qing dynasty who liked to copy Han and Qin calligraphy. He was also an important collector of paintings and calligraphies.
