A Victorian silver-gilt cup and cover
in the early 18th Century taste, on a fluted rising circular foot and with two leaf-capped scroll handles, a moulded body band and rim, and a gadrooned cover with fluted compressed finial, the lower part of the tapering circular body and the cover each decorated with strapwork containing stylised foliage, one side engraved with a crest and motto within a shell and foliate cartouche, a bird with outstretched wings to each side, with an ebonised wood plinth applied with a plaque with extensive presentation inscription of political interest, "To Albert Pell, Member of Parliament for South Leicestershire" and with a plush-lined oak carrying case, Andrew Crespel & Thomas Parker, London 1866 - height of cup 16½in.
