CHURCHILL, Winston Spencer (1874-1965). Series of 10 typed letters signed to John Harvey of Woodford Division Conservative Association, 10 Downing Street, 26 September 1954 - 3 May 1963 (the majority 1954-6), mentioning the Suez Canal motion, referring to housing issues in Woodford, to electoral divisions in Chigwell district, sending a message of encouragement for the AGM ('we can all take pride in what has been achieved under Conservative leadership ... Abroad our tireless efforts to lessen tension have been rewarded with some success'), and on similar matters, together 12 pages, 8vo and 4to, with an enclosure, and a telegram; and eight typed letters signed by Clementine Churchill to Harvey, 6 April 1950 - 22 January 1965; with six photographs (one framed) showing Churchill giving a campaign speech, with John Harvey, and in constituency meetings; typescript speech by Harvey in honour of Churchill's memory, on House of Commons paper; and a Corona cigar by H. Upmann, Havana, 135mm long, in a plastic tube, together with a sprig of white heather, both reputedly presented by Churchill to Harvey during the 1955 General Election campaign.
