A fine copy representing German humanism which once graced the library of the distinguished scholar and librarian, Pieter Burmann. Macrobius' text was the most widely read Latin compendium of Neoplatonic theory of the middle ages as well as being a popular guide to science, treating of the Pythagorean number, cosmography and geography. It is illustrated, as often, by a world map. The second work of German patriotism contains a prefatory letter by the humanist and patron of Dürer, Willibald Pirckheimer, and ends with Conrad Celtes's description of Nuremberg. I: Adams M-60; VD-16 M-49. II: Adams I-164; VD-16 F-2815.
