Lot Essay

An admirer of Thomas Gainsborough and a friend of John Constable, Frost was an amateur artist and his landscape subjects are largely based around Ipswich and the surrounding countryside. The majority of his work is executed in black chalk and grey wash, stylistically displaying the influence of Gainsborough.
