AN AUSTRALIAN CARVED EMU EGG CENTREPIECE WITH SILVER-PLATED MOUNTS
CIRCA 1895
The egg carved on one side with a prospector encamped on the outback heating his billy-can, on a tree trunk support with radiating ferns, at foot of tree a kangaroo and an emu, on oval ebonised base with blue velvet top and ropework border, the egg supporting a diagonally-fluted vaseline glass vase, all contained under a protective glass dome on ebonised circular base
