Oval with foliate surround and pierced tied ribbon surmount, plated reverse, transformed from a mirror to a frame containing a portrait miniature on vellum of Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy (1666-1732), in armour, blue cloak over right shoulder

Lot Essay

Francesco Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy (1666-1732) was Duke of Savoy
from 1675-1730,also held the titles of Marquis of Saluzzo and Duke of
Montferrat, Prince of Piedmont and Count of Aosta, Moriana and Nice. He became King of Sicily in 1713 to but was made to exchange this title
for that of King of Sardinia from 1720.
