Lot Essay

Luisa Marquise Casati Stampa di Soncino (1881-1957) was an important patron of the arts during the first decades of the 20th century in Europe. Born in Milan, upon the untimely death of her father and mother in the 1890s, Luisa and her sister became the wealthiest women in Italy.


The Jean Cocteau committee has confirmed the authenticity of this work.
