Lot Essay

The British Empire Exhibition was the largest ever exhibition ever staged in the world, attracting 27 million visitors. The aim was to showcase goods and produce in order to stimulate trade and strengthen bonds between the 58 Empire countries. It was a huge spectacle that ran for two summer seasons, and included an amusement park, a stadium for mass entertainments, and the world's first bus station.
