South India, Vijayanagara period, 14th century
Standing in slight tribangha with the left knee bent, dressed in a close-fitting dhoti carved with elegantly undulating folds and secured with a pendant belt, adorned with necklaces and the sacred thread, the face with well-carved features and surmounted by a conical headdress

This is an exceptionally well carved example given the hardness of the material, with well-defined features such as the toes and fluid and intricate treatment of the drapery.
