A lacquer incense burner (koro)
Edo-Meiji period (19th century), signed Zeshin (Shibata Zeshin; 1807-1891)
In the form of a temple bell which fits over a metal-lined cylinder-base to hold incense, the bell pierced on either side of the handle with holes for smoke, the exterior decorated with a sabiji ground to simulate patinated bronze, the exterior of the cylinder-base and interior of the bell nashiji
