The ovoid vase with long neck decorated with stylized grasses and with rich reddish brown patina with deliberate reddish flushes, signature on base

With original wood box titled Somon kabin (vase with grass design), signed Toyochika and sealed Geijutsuin kaiin and Toyochika

Lot Essay

The Geijutsuin kaiin seal on the original box for this vase indicates that the artist was honored as Member of the Imperial Academy of Arts, the designation used between 1919 and 1945 as the successor to Teishitsu Gigeiin (Artist to the Imperial Household).
