Lot Essay

The S.S. State of Georgia was constructed in Glasgow, Scotland in 1873 operated by the Norway Heritage Line. This ship was an iron screw steamship rigged as a schooner. After passing Dunnet Head near Aberdeen on December 28th 1897 the S.S. State of Georgia sunk on a voyage from New Fairwater to Halifax.
