Lot Essay

Simon Bussy (1870-1954) first went to Paris after winning a scholarship to study at the Ecole des Arts Décoratifs in 1886 where he studied under E. Delauney and Gustave Moreau. His fellow pupils Roualt and Matisse were life-long friends. He exhibited at the legendary Galerie Durand-Ruel in 1897 and moved to Roquebrune in the South of France in 1903.
