ANDRÉ KERTÉSZ (1894-1985)
A PRIVATE COLLECTION, MANHATTAN Lots 256-271 and 296 are originally from the collection of opera director Allen Sven Oxenburg (1927-1992). In 1950, Oxenburg co-founded the American Opera Society (AOS) with conductor Arnold Gamson and served as the AOS's Artistic Director for two decades. Despite its innovative programming, the Society was disbanded in 1970 due to lack of sponsorship. Oxenburg then became a respected photography dealer in Manhattan.
