With blacked sighted nitro barrels respectively signed 'WATSON BROS.' and '7. BURY STREET. ST. JAMES'S. LONDON' on each tube and with foliate and scroll engraving at the breech-end, case-hardened border and scroll engraved action signed 'WATSON BROS.', the blued underside engraved en suite and signed 'PATENT ONE TRIGGER', automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE', blued border and scroll engraved top-lever and spurred trigger-guard, blued trigger, well figured chequered walnut butt and fore-end, the former swelling and inlaid with a vacant gold escutcheon, and retaining virtually all its original finish throughout, in original fitted leather case with blue baize lining (stitching to handle at fault), the lid with Watson Bros. trade label with handwritten instructions and the '13, Pall Mall' address scored out and the legend 'MOVED TO 7, BURY STREET' stamped below, with some accessories including a brace of snap-caps, a Dixon oil bottle and a take-down cleaning rod

Lot Essay

The makers have kindly confirmed that this pistol was completed in 1931 and was sold to Colonel Coleman. The records note that it was built as a single-trigger ejector with 12 inch barrels with a special shaped stock made by Ebenezer Hands.
