Lot Essay

"The hanging lamp is designed by Rietveld around 1922 and during that time used in different variations. The lamp with the three tubes in three mutually perpendicular directions is the ultimate model which was also hung in the Rietveld Schröder House. I ordered the lamp here on offer from Gerard van de Groenekan for the exhibition I arranged on the Rietveld Schröder House after the restoration of the exterior of the house for the Centraal Museum in Utrecht in 1975."
