Lot Essay

The intials bear a strong similarity to the inscription on an ivory folding rule engraved I K Brunel sold as part of a single collection of Papers and Memorabilia relating to Isambard Kingdom Brunel, by these sale rooms, 29 November 1996 (lot 82).
