Lot Essay

Bob Carlos Clarke (1950 -2006) was an Irish born photographer, known for his highly stylized erotic imagery. In 1970, Clarke studied graphics at the West Sussex College of Art, later, he received an MA from the Royal College of Art, London. Carlos Clarke photographed celebrities such as Keith Richards, Dita Von Teese, Caprice and Marco Pierre White. At the time of his death, Carlos Clarke was working on a permanent exhibition titled Dark Genius for Marco Pierre White's London restaurant, Luciano. It was left to his wife and agent Pascal to complete the work.

Bob Carlos Clarke was undoubtedly influenced by Allen Jones's 1969 table design when developing the composition of this image.
