Lot Essay

Four panels portray the former Shah of Iran and his three consecutive wives: Fawzia, Soraya Esfandiary-Bakhtiari and lastly Farah Diba. The figures are placed at the centre of the composition against intricate details of Iranian motifs. This work's historical significance responds to a bygone era revisited in a modern context possibly raising questions of political stability, time and power.
