DAOGUANG PERIOD, DATED TO THE TWENTY-THIRD YEAR OF DAOGUANG, CORRESPONDING TO 1844
The heavily cast model is of typical tapering form and has a number of raised bands. It is set on a later wood stand with four wheels.
24¾ in. (62.9 cm.) long, the stand 16¼ in. (41 cm.) long

Lot Essay

The inscription to the top of the cannon states that it was made during the twenty-third year of the Daoguang period, corresponding to the year 1844.
A pair of very similar bronze canons was sold in these rooms, 8 June 1987, lot 294.
