A LAPIS-LAZULI 'SHOU' BOWL AND COVER
18TH CENTURY
The bowl is supported on a short splayed foot and the exterior is extensively incised with variations of 'shou' characters. The interior is finely incised with bats in mid-flight amidst vaporous clouds, all picked out in gilt tones. The cover is similary decorated to the interior and exterior.
3 7/8 in. (10 in.) diam.
