A VERY RARE MING DOUCAI BOWL
WANLI SIX-CHARACTER MARK AND OF THE PERIOD (1573-1619)
The bowl is delicately potted and painted around the exterior with four roundels, each containing fruiting peach branches. The roundels are served on a blue ground decorated with meandering lotus scrolls and pomegranates, all picked out in yellow, green and soft red enamels. The interior is enamelled with a central roundel enclosing fruiting pomegranate and lychee branches.
