A SMALL PALE CELADON JADE POURING VESSEL, GUANG
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The vessel is modelled in the form of an archaic bronze ritual pouring vessel known as guang, with a dragon-head handle. The exterior is decorated to the centre with a wide band of taotie masks centred on vertical flanges, between a band of stylised phoenix and dragons and a band of classic 'C'-scrolls. The stone is of pale yellowish-celadon tone with pale russet inclusions.
