Lot Essay

The present watch is not only remarkable through the fact that it has been extremely well preserved to date as regards to its age, but also because its dial is not commonly seen on this type of Oyster model, especially the lines crossing in the middle of the dial are usually associated with the much sought-after Rolex Tru-Beat. Just as unusual is the depth indication on the dial 50m = 165 ft, which is normally associated with tool watches like the well-known Submariner.
The complexity of the finishing of the dial, partly recessed, renders the watch even more beautiful and attractive. Watch aficionados will get full satisfaction with this watch although it may appear in the first place as "a mere steel watch".
