According to the Archives of Longines, the present watch was manufactured in 1943 and invoiced to the company's agent Messrs. Ostersetzer in Italy in 1943.
Amongst collectors, Longines chronographs rank at the very top of the hierarchy of the world's most beautiful stop watches ever made. Connoisseurs not only appreciate the superb movements which Longines manufactured between the 1930's and 1960's, notable calibers 12.68Z, 13ZN and 30CH, but also in particular the generous and masculine case designs, often larger and more substantial than their peers from the same period.
The present reference 22184 is no exception to this rule and is, in fact, one of the most attractive examples of a 1940's chronograph - any manufacturer combined. It pleases its beholder with its wide, screw-back case and its incredibly sophisticated black lacquer dial. Furthermore, it has survived in extraordinarily good and original condition and is not only a superb collector's watch, but also a fantastic watch to wear daily.
