GOOD SET of these paired hunting scenes, comparing the correct and incorrect approaches to the same obstacle. Since Alken was himself a Middlesex sportsman there is perhaps an element of self mockery involved. Mellon/Snelgrove 22; Schwerdt I, p. 11: 'a spirited set of hand-coloured plates.
