ALKEN, Henry. Panorama of a Fox Hunt. London: R. Ackermann, 1 January 1828. Engraved title. A hand-coloured, etched continuous strip panorama (97 x 2226mm). (Some light rubbing along folds, occasional light spotting, folds strengthened on verso.) Folding into original cloth-backed patterned boards with scene of the death laid down on upper cover, title 'H. Alken's Panoramic View of a Fox Hunt' engraved below (front cover soiled, extremities a little worn); blue morocco clamshell case by Aquarius.
A FINE EXAMPLE OF THIS RARE PANORAMA IN ORIGINAL BINDING with engraved title pasted in. The full title reads: 'H. Alken's Panorama of a Fox Hunt shewing a large scope of the Leicestershire, Rutlandshire and Lincolnshire counties: with all sorts of riders, good, bad, and indifferent'. Mellon/Snelgrove 30 (example on a cylinder); Siltzer p. 61; cf. Gee Sporting Panoramas 4 (1840 edition).
