The Dinky Toy Drawings and Prototype Collection
Foreword
The owner of this collection was intimately connected with the Binns Road Factory during the second half of the postwar period of Dinky Toys [*]. His especial love was commercials and he has accumulated a unique collection of Dinky drawings, prototypes and issues on this theme. His love of the toys is representative of those who worked for Meccano at the time and this zeal may help to explain why the toys are collected with such enthusiasm now. The detailed information and photographs, particularly the post-war ones included in the chapter on Prototypes, provided by the owner was of immense assistance to us while writing Dinky Toys and Modelled Miniatures. Each factory drawing in this collection tells a story of its own and anyone who acquires one can be assured that they have a unique piece of the Dinky Archive.
