The top with reversible central section inlaid with an ebony and fruitwood chessboard, the compartment below lined in velvet for backgammon and cribbage, with later simulated amber and simulated red-stained ivory counters, the frieze with a small drawer

Four variants appear in Gillows of Lancaster's Estimate Sketch Books between 1818 and 1822 (E.S.B folios 2075, 2079, 2087 and 3193), the nearest match, with feet almost identical to the present table's, being folio 2079.
