From a dated example of his work we know that Okada Nobushige was 63 years of age in Kyoho 7 (1722). He was the son of Nobumasa, the third master of the Okada school. The finest of his guards show great care in their manufacture and he imparts a satin finish to them that is not seen again until the later 19th century.
