Signed Koju and sealed, Edo Period (19th century)
The small rectangular chest decorated with chrysanthemums by a stream in gold and silver hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, togidashi-e, kirigane and nashiji on a kinji ground, the hinged door opening to reveal three fitted drawers lacquered in iroe-togidashi-e with autumn leaves, the interior of the door decorated with a kusudama (a Boy's Day garland), sudare, and iris in iroe- hiramaki-e, togidashi-e and aogai on a roiro-nuri ground embellished with hirame and kimpun, engraved silver fittings
