A FINELY CARVED ZITAN SCREEN BASE
18TH CENTURY
With central panel carved with a lotus blossom with trailing, leafy tendrils, above openwork aprons carved as archaistic scroll interspersed with simplified ruyi heads centred by small florets, the whole raised on thick zitan shoe feet flanked by standing openwork spandrels carved as archaistic scroll and vertical posts terminating in scroll-form ends; together with a zitan screen frame of later date
The base: 23½ in. (56.7 cm.) high, 25¾ in. (65.4 cm.) wide, 12 5/16 in. (31.3 cm.) deep
