A CELADON AND RUSSET JADE MYTHICAL BEAST AND CUB GROUP

The recumbent beast is carved and pierced with a sprig of lingzhi fungus in its mouth, a flame scroll by its haunch, its backbone and facial features are finely detailed, its cub is carved to one side, the celadon stone has russet and reddish brown inclusions and fissures.
3 5/8 in. (9.2 cm.) long, wood stand
Provenance
From an old English private collection, acquired in Hong Kong in the 1950s and thence by descent.
By repute, from the Mms.du Breuil Collection, Hong Kong.
