Jean-Joseph Chapuis (1765-1864) was one of the leading Brussels ébénistes, retiring in 1830. His most important commission was the production of furniture for the Chateau Royal De Laeken in Brussels.
For a very closely related chair by Chapuis see Denise Ledoux-Lebard, Le Mobilier Français Du XIX Siècle, page 120.
