A PORTUGUESE MAIOLICA BLUE AND WHITE DISH
THIRD QUARTER OF THE 17TH CENTURY
Painted with a stylised lion seated on a mound between flowering Oriental shrubs and two blue bands, within a border of leaves, scrolls and fruiting branches and a blue band, the underside with four blue S-scrolls to the border (small rim chip at 2 o'clock, slight fritting to rim, starcrack to glaze at reverse)
15 1/8 in. (38.8 cm.) diam.
