Two miniatures of ladies of the Montmorency family: Anne Charlotte Marie Henriette de Montmorency-Tancarville (1798-1860), in black dress over lace-bordered blouse, gem-set brooch at neck, black shawl, white gauze cap over her fair hair; together with a lady, in similar dress, with with gauze cap tied in a bow below her chin
the former signed 'Cécile Villeneuve d'après Photogie' (mid-right); the latter signed 'Cécile Villeneuve d'après Dagtype' (mid-right)
on ivory
ovals, 3 13/16 in. (98 mm.); 3¾ in. (95 mm.) high, respectively, ormolu easel-stand frames with tied ribbon and rosette surmounts

Lot Essay

Anne Charlotte Marie Henriette de Montmorency-Tancarville was the daughter of the Prince of Montmorency-Tancarville. She married, in 1817, Emmanuel, Comte de Brissac (1793-1870) aide-de-camp of the Duc de Bordeaux.
