signed with monogram and dated 'NH 1765' (mid-right)

oval, 1 5/16 in. (33 in.) high, gilt-metal bracelet frame with diamond surround, the reverse engraved 'Sir Edward Dering. (6th Bart) of Surrenden-Dering. Kent. Born Sept. 20th 1732. Died Dec. 8th 1798.'

Lot Essay

Sir Edward Dering, 6th Bt. was the son of Sir Edward Dering, 5th Bt. and Mary Henshaw. He married, firstly, Selina Furnese and, secondly, Deborah Winchester. He was MP for New Romney until 1770 when he left to accept the Stewardship of the Chiltern Hundreds. He returned to his seat in 1774 but left Parliament in 1787 to accept the Stewardship of the Manor of East Hendred.
