Lot Essay

Traditionally identified as by Joris van Son, we are grateful to Fred Meijer, of the RKD, the Hague, for pointing out another version of this composition, almost identical (but with an additional lemon to the right), dated '1652'. He believes these two paintings to be by the same hand, after a lost original by Joris van Son.
