Rumba Band II
pencil and gouache with compositional changes on seperate fragments of paper stuckdown to the sheet, a preparatory drawing in reverse for the linocut Rumba Band II (Coppel LT 48) on sketchbook wove paper, circa 1936, a few colouring notes by the artist in pencil in the image, with the mirror image heavily outlined in pencil and with areas worked up in gouache verso, a central vertical and horizontal fold, with justification pin holes particularly in the upper margin, the top left sheet edge cut away, with a 2 cm. tear along the vertical fold at the lower sheet edge just into the image
