According to the provenance documents, the Graceland archives record that Presley personally purchased this guitar and microphone. The guitar and microphone were presented to the original vendor, American TV star Greg Evigan, by Earl Greenwood, Presley's cousin and press secretary. The newspaper clipping states that Elvis threw the
guitar to Greenwood in frustration when the string broke while he was playing it.

Spinout stars Presley as the lead singer of a band. One of the other band members, played by Jimmy Hawkins, can be seen playing a similar guitar throughout the film.
