Lot Essay

According to the owner, who ran the Official Marc Bolan Club, he acquired the jacket directly from the Mark Feld [Bolan] Estate who approached him for assistance in clearing up a collection of Marc's personal effects, of which this jacket was part. Bolan and his wife June Child often shared clothes, and the unstitched pockets reflect how Bolan liked to wear his jackets in the 1960s, so were probably unstitched deliberately. He can be seen wearing the jacket in a T-Rex publicity shot taken by Chris Walter in 1969.
