Lot Essay

This chalice was used in the scene where Indiana Jones [Harrison Ford] must choose the correct grail, with its gift of eternal life, from the many false grails, which bring certain death. Having chosen wisely, an amusing aside from the Grail Knight [Robert Eddison] Jones is able to save his father [Sean Connery] from a gunshot wound.

According to the vendor, 12 of these chalices were made for the film. Similar cups were made in resin for distance and stunt shots but these clay chalices were made for close-up shots.
