Janvier, circa 1795, the movement with alterations and possibly associated to the case
The rectangular case with carved palmwood reliefs to each side depicting Hieronymus and a female figure with a skull, surmounted by an ormolu carrying handle, on ormolu bun-feet, the gilt-brass dial, signed Janvier and inscribed Nescit Lapsa Reverti (not slipped back), with silvered chapter ring and decimal time subsidiary ring, the four-pillar one-train chain fusee movement, inscribed Horloge Construite avec le Vieux Rouage de Serinette de Madame Devanne, with anchor escapement; pendulum and winding key
