A FINE DECORATIVE FULL ARMOUR FOR A HORSE IN GERMAN EARLY 16TH CENTURY 'MAXIMILIAN' STYLE

Comprising leather-covered saddle faced with fluted and incised plates to the front and rear, shaffron formed of four plates fluted and incised en suite, the main plate flaring at the nose and fitted with a short spirally fluted 'unicorn horn' spike emerging from a flower-head, fluted ear defences, and pierced trellis-work eye-covers, crinet, peytral and crupper en suite, the latter with embossed tail-guard, decorated throughout with fluted patterns accompanied by incised lines, the principle edges with bold roped turns and recessed borders, with a set of stirrups, mounted on a composition horse with horsehair tail
