Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with bracelet in 1988 and its subsequent sale on June 27th of the same year.

Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe presentation box and additional hard back.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.

Reference 3945 was in production from 1985 until 1998 and is a variant of the celebrated reference 3940. Whereas the case of the reference 3940 features lugs in order to add a detachable leather or gold bracelet, the reference 3945 was made exclusively with an integral gold bracelet.

Reference 3945 was produced in two series, distinguished by the leap year display: the first series with sunk leap year dial, the second series showing a crossed leap year, such as the present watch.
