Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated July 30, 2008, leather portfolio, and product literature.

Reference 5070 was the first chronograph-only reference made by Patek Philippe since the reference 1463 was discontinued in the late 1960's. It was first produced starting in 1998 in yellow gold only, then starting in 2001 in white gold only, in 2003 pink gold only, and since 2008 only in platinum. It is thought that for each color, the production stopped after reaching 1000 pieces, except for platinum. Currently approximately only 500 pieces have been produced.

With a case diameter of 42 millimeters, it is one of the largest watches that Patek Philippe produces.
