Provenance
Almost certainly supplied to John, 2nd Earl of Hopetoun (d. 1781), for Hopetoun House, South Queensferry, Linlithgow. Thence by descent at Hopetoun, until sold by The Marquess of Linlithgow, Christie's house sale, 19-20 July 1993, lot 104, where acquired by the vendor.
